Read Presidents Message The New Year has arrived and another election year is upon us. Our local must place the highest level of importance in the City Commission race, and get out and help the candidates we support to achieve victory in their campaigns. This is a critical time for our membership and the citizens we serve. Reflect back on the things that have occurred over the past year, alcohol sales on Sunday, closing of a fire station and manpower reductions. Vote supporting right-to-work and the treatment of the workingmen and women of the city. We must stand up for our fellow workers and ourselves because there is a louder voice of unity, when shouted, by all city workers. We shall stand strong against all attacks aimed at our membership and we will be victorious in our struggle for fair treatment by the powers that be. I call out to our entire membership to stand up for your rights and the right to earn a fair living for your family. Always remember those who have sacrificed in the past for the things we have now. Rest assured, when we fight for our rights, you can look over your shoulder and standing behind us are our brothers who are now gone, with their soot stained faces, and ash covered gear. In the coming weeks we will be announcing the candidates we support during the upcoming elections. Many candidates seek our support, by association, financially, and by putting feet to the street and getting out the message. If we put out the effort, I know we can be victorious in the struggles we are facing. We ask the citizens we protect and serve to stand up with us and help us in our time of need.
