At the May regular union meeting Captain Danny Johnston received an award that not to many people in union activity receive. Danny has been a cornerstone in Local 168 for many years and starting last year the rumors that Captain Dan would possibly retire started to circulate. Well we all knew he was going to retire because in December when we had nominations for Executive Board members. Danny said "I DECLINED"!!. Danny had not said those words the first 25 times...Captain Dan has served Local 168 on the e-board 25 consecutive years and has been a faithful and strong backbone of Local 168. One of the best comments about Danny was that when the discussing in the e-board or union meetings had gotten a little heated, Captain Dan was there to calm things down.
Danny plans to retire this year but he has already committed to continue to lead the Children's Christmas party Local 168 has every year. Congratulations Danny-boy...
