Professional Fire Fighters of Paducah

Local 168

One of the greatest parts of the fire service is the history of our craft. Passing down from generation to generation of firefighters the stories about the big fires, the characters (firemen) that lived in the fire stations, the battles that where fought on the fire scene, in the station and at city hall. To be truthful, the firefighters and their antics of what went on from day to day are more colorful than most could imagine.

We want to use this page to reflect some of the history of the Paducah Fire Department through photos. Most of the photos here are from a collection of Jack Johnston. Jack is a historian of Paducah fires and a member of the McCracken D.E.S. Back in the day, D.E.S., then known as Civil Defense, and they helped the firefighters of Paducah on large fires and Jack has been a member ever since he was 18 years old. Local 168 wants to thank Jack for the use of his collection of photos and more importantly, keeping the history of firefighting in Paducah alive. Enjoy

If you have any pictures of the Paducah Fire Department either fighting fires or in other pictures, please contact the webmaster. We would love to scan the pictures and add them to our collection.
